I’m creating some characters for a graphic novel that will be released next year. But as I’m working on them I thought I may as well use some of them in my piece for Upfest, the massive urban paint festival, in Bristol (UK) in June. I’ll be using a mix of stencils and free hand spray painting on the final artwork which will be on a 10x8 foot wall / board… as I’ve never done anything like this before I’m kind of out of my depth, especially considering the first time I picked up a can of spray paint was about 2 weeks ago… with only three weeks left to go I’m making progress but I’ve got a lot to do!

Above pic of the Werewolf is hand drawn and inked in Photoshop using a Wacom pen tablet, the back ground is just basic at the moment, so ignore that! My next mission is to make this up out of stencils which could be tricky…

Above is my first attempt at stencil work, 7 layers (go big or go home right?) with lines etc cleaned up using paint pens on A3 canvas artboard, I need to blow this up to A1 to be part of the final painting… I’m just in the middle of re-drawing her as I’m not totally 100% happy with the result, Not bad for my first time but I can do better!
After re-drawing ‘Little Red’ from scratch to clean up the picture and make the stencil look better, I’ve re-done the hair and body colour and think it’s starting to look a little better… I made a mock-up of how the full piece is going to (hopefully) look… see below…

Please by all means share my work via your blog/website but always give me a mention in your post, I’d do the same for you! All characters and artwork are my original work and are copy written for my protection, please don’t steal my work and pass it off as your own, it’s not big, it’s certainly not clever and I can assure you, somebody WILL find out and make you look like a massive douche.
